Skin laxity can be caused by loss of collagen and elastin fibres in ageing skin. This results in brow ptosis, eyelid ptosis, jowls and loss of neckline. The use of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) which target at different levels of the skin to stimulate the contraction of collagen fibers and stimulate the growth of new collagen.

Causes:

Skin laxity can be caused by many factors. Genetics, natural ageing, weight loss, excessive sunlight exposure, smoking and stress. These factors lead to loss of collagen and elastin fibers in the skin.

Treatment:

The use of High- Intensity Focused Ultrasound to heat up the skin tissue to 60-70 degree Celsius without damaging the skin surface and the  surrounding tissues. When the SMAS (Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System) layer is heated, the contraction resulted in this layer will produce an immediate lifting and tightening effect. At the same time, growth of collagen will be stimulated and so improvement will continue in the coming nine months. The result is expected to last for 1-2 years which is dependent on lifestyle and maintenance.

General Care:

One may experience slight redness immediately after the treatment and it may last for 1-2 days. Small percentage of clients may have mild swelling, tenderness, tingling and may last for a few days.
